Aligned with our mission to offer cannabis products that have a positive impact, and improving lives and communities, INDIVA also believes in being good to the planet. To unite these commitments, Indiva has partnered with The Streetlight E-Recycle program (Streetlight) to help with the proper removal of waste from the cannabis production facility expansion. Streetlight creates employment opportunities for at-risk youth through the collection of unwanted electronics, scrap metal, and precious metals. Streetlight exists to be a consistent resource that meets the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of the at-risk youth community in London. Streetlight operates out of a Mobile Youth Center in downtown London and is staffed by a team of dedicated outreach workers and volunteers. They provide a safe and consistent place for at-risk youth to receive food, friendship, support and a sense of community. “Each community pickup provides a chance for a youth with employment barriers to work and be paid for their time at a livable wage,” says Justin Dimoff, Streetlight Director. “Beyond monetary value, these picks ups also create the opportunity for youth to be mentored and encouraged in their journey.” Over the last two pickups at INDIVA, the E-recycle program has received four trailer loads of scrap metal and wire. Through a partnership with John Zubick Scrap Metals Inc., they were able to convert those raw materials into more than $1200. “There are a lot of positives to contributing to the Streetlight program,” says Courtney Morgan, Health and Community Engagement Leader. “This program allows us to reroute waste from our landfills and is having a positive impact on the lives of those living in our community.” Expansion construction is well underway and is expected to be completed in early 2019. As construction continues and materials become available, INDIVA will continue to partner with the Streetlight program with the hopes to give back even more.
